D/s and M/s Discussion Group

March 25 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

I was looking though my collection of links to BDSM articles and found this:

I was at that conference and listened to that keynote speech. There was a lot of discussion afterwards. (It was especially interesting because some people heard “incivility” as “instability” and didn’t quite get the right message.)

Reading this again made me ask some questions. How much were people at that event really listening? How much have we remembered 11 years later? Master Skip mentions that the 2008 M/s Conference was nine years after MAsT ’99, which is considered to be “the birth of the Master/slave community”. That’s pretty much at the halfway point between MAsT ’99 and today. That’s the critical moment in writing and movies, the place where the protagonist has to make a decision: Change, or Die (physically or metaphorically). So I wondered which choice we had made. The Master/slave community obviously didn’t die; but did it change, or just stay the same?

So let’s talk about this. About what the Master/slave communities… and the wider D/s community in all its varied forms… is today. And about civility in the scene in general.

This is a long article, but please take the time to read it and think about it. And if you want more, Master Skip references this article:

Civility and Incivility in the Scene by Chris M (Black Rose of Washington, DC)

I hope you’ll join us for this discussion.

This is a discussion group for anyone interested in Dominant/submissive or Master/slave relationships (often called “Power Exchange” or “PE” relationships).

Relationships are difficult enough in the vanilla world, right? But we decided to add roles and orientations, rules, protocols, rituals, training, discipline, and other dynamics to make it even more complicated! What were we thinking?

What we were thinking, of course, is that adding these things to a relationship can clarify expectations, provide structure, and improve communications. And that’s a good thing.

If you are in a PE relationship; if you’re considering entering into a PE relationship; or if you’re curious about D/s and M/s relationships and dynamics; please join us on the fourth Monday of every month for conversation and support in navigating the complexities of this lifestyle.

We meet at the Denver Sanctuary. The door opens at 6:46 PM, and the discussion runs from 7:00 to 9:00. We’ll have a topic each month, but there will also be time for open discussion.

There is no cost for the group, but a $5 donation to help cover utilities, beverages, and snacks is always very much appreciated.

If you need the address to the Denver Sanctuary please send a text message to Love Slave at 720-989-3283.

The Denver Sanctuary is a PRIVATE MEMBERSHIP Social club for people who are curious about or practice BDSM. All play parties require membership to attend. New Member Orientation is offered at SOME, NOT ALL, of the play party events. Please check the website for more details on membership and when orientations are offered.

Membership is NOT required to attend any of the discussion groups, meetings or classes offered at the Sanctuary.

The D/s and M/s Discussion Group is sponsored by Colorado Leather Fest.
